Celebration time!

Hi guys!

My Dad celebrated his birthday today (YAY!)
Unfortunately for him he had to work.
But he had a nice surprise when he came home because I made him a birthday cake!
I wanted to make him a frog cake. My Dad likes frogs a lot.
Really, A LOT!
But then I saw the cake I made today because it looked like the perfect cake to give to a dad 😀 (or any man)
I’m sorry little frogs, try again next year! This year, it’s all about the “moustache”.

It’s true, it IS all about the moustache these days (“these days” are lasting for a while now…)
You can find moustaches on everything! Mugs, T-shirts, tops, jewelry, …
And also on cake!

Let’s move on to the cake 😉

What do we need:

  • 125g sugar
  • 125g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 1.5dl milk
  • 2 bags of vanilla sugar (= +- 16g)
  • round baking tin
  • 200g dark chocolate (to cover the cake with)

How to:

Mix the sugar, vanilla sugar and butter together until the sugar is completely absorbed by the butter.
Add the eggs. Add the milk alternated with the flour.
Make sure everything is mixed together properly.
Put the batter in the cake tin.
Bake the cake for about 50 minutes at 180 degrees centigrade.
Use a sharp knife to stick in the middle of the cake when it’s done to check it.
Let the cake cool.

The moustache:

We have our round cake.

Use a knife to make this “Yin & Yang” shape.

Place the two pieces like this to get the shape of a moustache.
It’s okay if the two sides aren’t equal. Firstly, you can still cut it the way you want it to be.
Secondly, a moustache usually isn’t equal on both sides either :p

I did cut the shape a bit. Because, as you can see, it really wasn’t equal. Not that I wanted that but this looked too different to me.
Melt the chocolate and decorate the moustache with it.
(You can still cut the moustache when it’s covered in chocolate -> I did.)
Put the moustache in the fridge to let the chocolate get stiff.

Happy Birthday Dad! ❤

Have a delicious day!
xxx Sarah
