Cheeky Monkey Gastropub: My favorite place in Malta

Hi guys!

I just got back from a great holiday in Malta with the boyfriend. It was nice to change environments and just relax for a while. We visited many places, saw incredible buildings and – of course – ate lots of yummy meals. But one place will stay on my mind forever: Cheeky Monkey Gastropub. We were in Malta for 5 days and we’ve been there every single day. Can you believe it?! So yeah, Cheeky Monkey definitely is my favorite place on the island ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dinner at Hofstede de Blaak

Hi guys!

A little while ago we went to Tilburg, The Netherlands. Dinner spot that evening was Hofstede de Blaak. I won’t waste too many words. Let’s take a culinary walk together;)

Our fantastic dinner at Cucina Marangon

Hi guys!

A couple of weeks ago, the boyfriend and I were invited by my parents to go to dinner at Cucina Marangon. It’s a fantastic Italian restaurant in Turnhout, Belgium. No. No pizza or spaghetti bolognaise… It’s a very classy restaurant. Once you go black Cucina Marangon, you can’t go back! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Why we went to this restaurant? Because my parents had something to celebrate: Their 25th Marriage Anniversary! ๐Ÿ˜€ Hip Hip Hooray!

Let me walk you through our great evening. I do have to apologize for not having pictures of the delicious appetizers because we couldn’t keep our hands off… Sorry!

I’m also very sorry for the bad quality of my pictures. I forgot my camera and since the restaurant is so cozy, it’s difficult to take good pictures. If you have any tips or tricks to fix that, please let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

I do have a picture of this mini pizza appetizer which was great!

Mini Pizza

Let’s start our 5 courses menu ๐Ÿ™‚ My mom and the boyfriend took the adapted wines. I sticked with water and my dad (our driver) had a special ‘Bob arrangement’ :p That meant he could take a sip of every wine ^^

Starter Cucina Marangon

Course 1: Tuna | Pumpkin coulis | French dressing from pine nuts | Beans

Pasta

Course 2: Tagliolini Vongole

Risotto

Course 3: Risotto with rabbit, truffle & vanilla

Oh man. I LOVE Risotto and this one was soooo good! Yumm!

Duck

Main Course: Duck with polenta croquettes

My two favorite meats: rabbit and duck. Lucky me! ๐Ÿ˜€

Dessert

Dessert: Soufflรฉ Glacรฉ Marsala

A yummy trio with amarena cherries ๐Ÿ™‚ I especially liked the tiramisu with this cherry (the one on the left)

Look at this glass of wine, it’s insanely big! Our friendly sommelier told us it fits a whole bottle… Can you believe it ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

De Statie: expert in second chances

On Tuesday, we went to De Statie. It was hot and we didn’t feel like cooking. I suggested to go and try the restaurant I pass by almost every single day. The building looks incredible so I really wanted to go there.

Bolle & Co

Hi guys!

A little while ago, my parents took me to a still undiscovered restaurant in Stabroek, Belgium. Undiscovered for us, that is.

It looks small on the outside and when you enter the restaurant it looks like a tiny, cosy place. But if you walk a little further, you’ll find a bigger room with lovely furniture and some awesome decorations!

Tout Bon in Brussels

I went to Brussels last week for a little trip.
I decided to randomly walk around. Left, right, left, right, …
Some places were familiar but most of them weren’t.

I arrived at the business side of Brussels by the time my stomach warned me for noon.
Yes, there are snack bars in that area. But I wanted to try something different than a sandwich.
At first I thought I had to go back to the center because all I saw were little restaurants and I didn’t feel like spending much. I didn’t even had that much money with me.

After a few left and right turns, I arrived at a square. It was right in front of the European Commission.
Many little (and bigger) restaurants surrounded the square.
I searched for something a bit more budget friendly and there it was: Tout Bon.
It looked nice so I went inside. Why I decided that fast to go there? Because it was raining!

If you enter the store, it looks a bit like Le Pain Quotidien. Wooden interior, a little bakery section in front and a large table. I know, Le Pain Quotidien has more large tables than Tout Bon. But I didn’t really mind, I was all alone after all.

So I found myself a table near by the bakery section. What did you expect ๐Ÿ˜‰

On my other side was a big wall of juices, jams and chocolate pastes.

I took a slice of bread with smoked salmon. It was delicious! Just the right amount of butter on it. YUM.

My tea made me feel nicely warm inside. I had plenty of time so I enjoyed my lunch while it was raining harder and harder outside. I imagined me sitting there several times per week to write my blogs. I know that would be awesome. All I did now was read the newspapers on my tablet while sipping my tea.

If you visit Brussels, pay it a visit. You don’t have to eat there, you can just buy some of those delicious chocolate pastes ๐Ÿ˜‰
