Lemon Blueberry Cake

Hi guys!

I’ve been going on strong on the chocolate lately so I thought a little change wouldn’t hurt. Not that this yummy Lemon Blueberry Cake will get you to lose weight. But that’s not why you’re here, are you? πŸ˜‰

This Lemon Blueberry Cake is moist and not too heavy. Unless you’d eat a really large piece, which I don’t recommend. That being said, lemon lovers will absolutely LOVE this one. It’s got that rich lemon flavor, balanced with blueberries and a sweeter frosting. It’s not too sweet and not too lemonlike. The perfect cake πŸ™‚

Carrot Cake for Easter

Hi guys!

Easter makes me dream about the egg hunting I did when I was a kid. I loved searching for them in the garden. My parents were perfect atΒ hiding them but I was also very good at finding them πŸ˜‰ My grandma always took me to the church where the Easter bellsΒ threw little bags filled with eggs from the highest tower.

Later, I coordinated the egg hunt for my two nieces. Coordinated you say? Yup. It was my job to make sure they didn’t steal eggs from eachother. #dreamjob xD It was actually quite fun to watch them get all excited about the eggs though.

There’s one thing I will definitely never forget. My godmother used to buy us a chocolate figure from the bakery in her street. Usually a chicken or a lamb. Mine was always white. Why? Because my dad loves white chocolate. This seriously was the reason it was always made of white chocolate. Every year, she said: “This one is for your dad. Because I know how much he loves white chocolate.” I didn’t think it was fair. She is my godmother. Not my father’s xD But luckily for me I am my father’s daughter: I love white chocolate πŸ˜‰

So Easter is all about chocolate eggs. But the Easter Bunny plays a part in it too! After all, the Easter bells can’t reach every spot in the garden, can they? To treat our fluffy Easter Bunny, I made him (or her) some Carrot Cake!

It was time for a new experiment. I wanted to combine 2 of my favorite flavors into one cake: chocolate (what else?) and Frangipane. It worked!

Easy & delicious Pear Cake

Hi guys!

I’ve always been a fan of Apple Cake. Even the storebought ones my grandma used to present us at parties. I guess I just love the simplicity of the cake and that moist texture, thanks to the apples. Apple cake, apple cake with speculoos, … I’ve made many varieties on this family classic. Because that’s what I believe it is. A family classic. I don’t think I know one family who never made apple cake.

Sometimes, the classics need to be changed. Just a little. So instead of apples, I used pears. The recipe is the same, only the fruit changes. Super easy and still super delicious πŸ™‚

Chocolate Mickey Cake

Hi guys!

We had a birthday celebration last Sunday for my aunt, grandpa, nephew and myself. I wanted to make a special cake for my aunt because she loves mice and especially Mickey Mouse…And she loves chocolate (who doesn’t). A few days before, I came across a Mickey Mouse cake. Yes! This is going to be the cake πŸ˜€

I decided to go for a yummy Devil’s Food Cake, topped with ganache. It’s such a rich chocolate cake, but not too heavy. I didn’t dare to write immediately on the cake so IΒ wrote on some parshment paper to harden in the freezer until the letters were dry enough to put on the cake.

Tadaaaaaa:

Happy World Animal Day

Hi guys!

Today is World Animal Day! Today is the day we pamper our furry little friends even more than we usually do. We hug them until they hate us and feed them cookies until the vet says they’re almost obese. Oh wait, let’s not overdo it.

There’s a world full of animal cake, animal cupcakes and animal proof treats for our best friends. It’s called Pinterest πŸ™‚ I just LOVE all those animal themed treats. How cute are they!

Game of Thrones: Sansa’s Lemon Cakes

Hi guys!

I love Game of Thrones.Β I haven’t seen the entire series yet, nor have I finished all the books. But god I love that story! It’s not good for my heart though. I can see why people invented anger management xD That Cersei and her @@:/&*!!@@!! son Joffrey can get me soooooooo angry. It makes my blood boil. So congrats to George R.R. Martin for writing so well πŸ˜‰

Mini Biscoff Cake for Mother’s Day

Hi guys!

Happy Mother’s Day to all wonderful moms! Most of my blogging friends have already shared their Mother’s Day posts earlier this year. But, as always, Antwerp does things differently πŸ˜‰ We celebrate Mother’s Day at the Catholic holiday. Because we’re all saints x’D In 1913, a liberal alderman from Antwerp declared the 15th of August as the Day of Mothers because Maria was the mother of all mothers and this was her holiday.Β A year later, the American President Wilson decided that Mother’s Day would takeΒ place every second Sunday in May. Many countries and cities followed the American idea, except for Antwerp. We still celebrate our moms on the 15th of August and we always will πŸ™‚

I was breaking my head about what kind of dessert I should make my mom. I figured it needed to be a cake. But what kind of cake? And what kind of shape? Did I have to make a heart shaped cake because I love my mom so much? Which I really do! Or should it be something with flowers because that’s what moms like? It took me a week to find the perfect Mother’s Day Cake for my mom. And how perfect it is. I gave her a mini Biscoff Cake so she can have it all for herself without having to eat cake for the next 5 days (she wouldn’t mind eating this cake all week though) AAAAND she LOVES Biscoff cookies! Bingo!

July Favorites

Hi guys!

Happy August! Summer holidays are halfway through here in Belgium. Which means you still need to keep the kids busy for three more weeks. Summer camps are always a good idea but they may have gone to one already and now they’ll stay home for the rest of the Summer. Maybe you could drop them off at the grandparents? That’s fun! Or you can search some other Summer activities. Ever thought about taking some time off and bake something with the kids? These July Favorites can definitely give you some inspiration!

#1: Pineapple Upside Down Cake
