Game of Thrones: Sansa’s Lemon Cakes

Hi guys!

I love Game of Thrones. I haven’t seen the entire series yet, nor have I finished all the books. But god I love that story! It’s not good for my heart though. I can see why people invented anger management xD That Cersei and her @@:/&*!!@@!! son Joffrey can get me soooooooo angry. It makes my blood boil. So congrats to George R.R. Martin for writing so well 😉

Yes, that is a lemon with its skin.

When I saw Rosanna Pansino’s recipe for Sansa’s Lemon Cakes, I knew I had to make them myself. Not only because they look super cute but because I have actually always wanted to make something from series or movies. And that’s exactly what Rosanna does in her Nerdy Nummies series on YouTube! Perfect 😉

What we need for 6 Lemon Cakes:

  • 160 g self-raising flour
  • 2 eggs + 1 egg yolk
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • little bit of salt
  • 40 g sour cream
  • 120 g melted, cooled butter
  • 100 g sugar

How to:

First we make the lemons. This has to be done 24 hours before you start baking.

  1. Take a medium saucepan and add the sugar and the water.
  2. Bring it to a boil.
  3. Slice your lemons in 6 (or a bit more to have some spare ones) slices.
  4. Cook the lemon slices for 8 minutes on medium high.
  5. Take a baking tray and put a piece of parshment paper on it.
  6. Put the lemon slices on the paper and let them dry for 24 hours.

Let’s get baking!

  1. Preheat the oven at 160°C.
  2. Mix together sugar and eggs.
  3. Add the sour cream.
  4. Add the zest and juice of a lemon to the mixture and give it a good mix.
  5. Mix in the vanilla.
  6. Sift the flour over the batter and mix until combined.
  7. Add the melted, but cooled, butter and give it a last mix.
  8. Take your cupcake molds and spray them with the Dr. Oetker baking spray.
  9. Place a slice of lemon in each mold.
  10. Fill the molds with the batter.
  11. Bake for about 20 minutes.

When life give you lemons, make Sansa’s Lemon Cakes! They are super yummy. Fresh and 100% lemon. Ideal for lemon lovers 😉

Have a delicious day ❤

    Hi guys!

I know it’s only Wednesday but I’m just going to be a badass rebel and do a throwback! 😮

I made these Lemon Cakes in 2016 and when I look at them, I wouldn’t want to change anything. What I love most about these? They are freakin’ yummy Lemon Cakes! I don’t like things too lemon like but I absolutely love these.

Give it a try! It’s the perfect treat for grey days like today.

    Have a delicious day ❤

  2. I love Game of Thrones, too….and some people sound so proud that they haven’t seen a single episode. Well, they don’t know what they’re missing. Even my parents watched a few episodes. They claimed there was too much lopping of heads,,,I think they were fibbing, lol!!

    Love these cakes, they’re darling!

  3. I have Throne fans in my family. I am going to have to make them these cakes! They look super easy and so pretty. I’ve candied citrus before and I find it hard to bite into or cut, with most of the slice breaking away. Did your slices have this problem? And oh, can non-fans of the show have one of these? Please?

    1. Oh yes, these cakes would be perfect for your Throne fans 😀 My slices were soft enough to bite. My colleagues ate them all and they didn’t seem to have any problems with them.
Of course non-fans can have some ^^ Serve yourself 😉

  4. I love themed food and although I have made Sansa Lemon Cakes on my blog before, they were very different from yours so I’m very intrigued by these. They look delicious! Keep watching Game of Thrones, you’ll only love it more and more. Great post Sara 😀
