Belgian Red Devils Cupcakes

Hi guys!

Okay, Belgium didn’t play very well last game against Italy. Let’s admit it: it was painful to watch. I know they tried, but they just weren’t good enough. Our Belgian Red Devils need to step up their game and I’m convinced these Belgian Red Devils Cupcakes will help them win tomorrow!

I shared these babies with you before, when Belgium played at the World Championship. I believe they’ll bring our team good luck since they did great then. So now they’ll have to be great tomorrow as well! These cupcakes are perfect to make with the kids. So let’s all bake and cheer for Belgium!


What we need:

  • 220 g butter
  • 220 g self-raising flour
  • 220 g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • cupcake wrappers
  • 400 ml cream
  • 500 g cream cheese (I always use mascarpone)
  • 125 g powder sugar
  • piping bag + tip
  • Sugar fondant in black, yellow and red
  • a glass with a diameter of the size of your cupcakes
  • a sharp knife
  • a rolling pin in plastic
  • the logo of the Red Devils cut out


How to:

  1. Preheat the oven at 180Β°C.
  2. Mix sugar and butter until it becomes a smooth mixture.
  3. Add the eggs and mix until everything is well combined.
  4. Add the flour and mix until the batter is fully combined and smooth.
  5. Fill the cupcake wrappers 3/4th with batter.
  6. Bake them for about 20 minutes.

Let’s make our frosting.

  1. Whip up the cream and set aside in the fridge.
  2. Whip up the cream cheese and the powder sugar.
  3. Add the whipped cream to the cream cheese.
  4. Fill your piping bag to frost the cupcakes once they’re completely cooled.

Time for some Belgian Red Devils decorations!

The logo

  1. Knead the yellow and red sugar fondant until it’s easy to handle.
  2. Roll it out until it’s the thickness you prefer.
  3. Cut out circles with the glass from the yellow fondant.
  4. Cut out the logo with a sharp knife from the red fondant.
  5. Place the logo on the circle and place them on top of the frosted cupcake. Gently push to get it stick.

The flag

  1. Knead the black, yellow and red sugar fondant until it’s easy to handle. You can use the leftovers from the logo design too.
  2. Roll it out until it’s the thickness you prefer.
  3. Cut out a stripe in each colour.
  4. Pace the three stripes (black, yellow and red) next to each other and gently roll over them with the rolling pin. The colours shuld now begin to stick together to form a flag.
  5. Cut the size of flag you want and place it on the frosted cupcakes.
  6. Gently push to get it stick.
